The EMA® Sleepbetter oral appliance is a customized, removable dental appliance for treating snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea  (OSA). The design advances the mandible while opening the bite for less restricted airflow when sleeping.

The EMA device is an alternative to nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy and provides greater patient satisfaction. A recent survey found that 81% of Patients prefer an oral sleep apnea appliance vs. CPAP.

How the EMA Sleepbetter Oral Appliance Helps with Sleeping

The EMA Sleepbetter oral appliance opens the bite and gently advances the mandible (or jaw) with elastic straps to increase airway space. The straps on the EMA mouth guard control how much the mandible is advanced. For example, the shorter the strap, the more advanced the mandible is,  resulting in a deeper, more restful sleep without snoring and the symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Other benefits of the EMA® Sleepbetter oral appliance include:

Indication

The EMA oral appliance is indicated for patients with either a full or partial set of natural teeth. The patient’s remaining teeth should have sufficient height of contour for the device to gain retention at the gingival third, and the edentulous ridge must be fully captured in the impression.

Validations

  • Oral appliance therapy (OAT) is very effective in treating patients with sleep-disordered breathing, with a compliance rate shown to be as high as 90% over a 2.5-year period.
  • OAT is associated with greater patient satisfaction than nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.
  • In a randomized crossover trial comparing OAT to CPAP in patients with obstructive sleep apnea, about 81% preferred OAT.

Subject to the return of a device that is placed and then fails, PRO-Craft Dental Laboratory will repair or replace the device without charge for the cost of materials and workmanship or refund the original price paid, at the PRO-Craft Dental Laboratory’s option, for up to 2 years for the EMA appliance.
